How do you use my data?

  • When you have opted in to receive marketing or other relevant communications from us, such as to be notified of new email productivity insights or receive other updates from us, we will collect your name and email address to send you marketing relying on your consent.

You can withdraw your consent to receiving marketing communications from us at any time by contacting us at privacy@belt.io or, where relevant, by following the unsubscribe link in any marketing communication you receive from us. Who do you share my data with?

  • Third parties we use to help deliver our services or marketing/update communications to you, including cloud service providers such as data storage platforms and customer relationship management (CRM) databases.

  • Regulators, authorities, and enforcement Agencies if we are required to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our terms of use and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our clients or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection.

  • Prospective buyers of our business (and their professional advisers) under our legitimate interest to ensure our business can be continued by the buyer. Usually, information will be anonymized but, if this is not possible, the recipient of any of your personal data will be bound by strict confidentiality obligations to ensure the safety of the personal data we hold.

Where do you store my data?

We store your data on third-party servers which are based in the US and, when working with third parties, we sometimes transfer your personal data to providers in the US.

Whenever we transfer your personal data outside of the UK or the EEA, we ensure it receives additional protection as required by law. To keep this policy as short and easy to understand as possible, we haven't set out the specific circumstances when each of these protection measures are used. You can contact us for more information on this using the contact details provided above.

How long do you keep my data for?

We will only retain your personal data for as long as we need it unless we are required to keep it for longer to comply with our legal, accounting or regulatory requirements.

In some circumstances we may carefully anonymise your personal data so that it can no longer be associated with you, and we may use this anonymised information indefinitely without notifying you. We use this anonymised information to improve the way we work and our services.

What are my rights under data protection law as a UK or EEA resident?

There are some exceptions to the rights listed above and, although we will always try to respond to any instructions you may give us about our handling of your personal information, there may be situations where we are unable to meet your requirements in full.

You have the right to make a complaint at any time to the relevant supervisory authority for data protection issues. If you are based in the UK, the relevant supervisory is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), whose website is at www.ico.org.uk. If you are based in the EEA, you can find your relevant supervisory authority here. We would, however, appreciate the opportunity to deal directly with your concerns before approaching a supervisory authority, and would be pleased to respond to any such complaints as your first-priority contact.
